1. Risk Assessment for excavation works 

Completed risk assessment (e.g. SWMS/JSA/JHA) for excavation works SIGNED by you/your employees or subcontractors in the last 12 months.

You must provide a completed and SIGNED risk assessment for excavation works.

If High Risk Construction Work is being undertaken, a SWMS must be submitted.

Hazards and risks associated with trench construction and excavation include trench collapses, cave-ins, and sidewall deterioration.

There are also some hidden risks of trench construction and excavation such as asphyxiation and inhalation of toxic fumes.

Controls include benching, battering, shoring, managing excavated material and loads near excavations, safe access, and egress points, exclusion zones, the work area is secured from unauthorised access (including inadvertent entry), routine inspections etc.
