What is the Workplace Clearance Group?

The Work Place Clearance Group (WPCG) accreditation is not an induction, it is the accreditation required for contractors to be able to self-issue a WPCG form when conducting low-risk work on petroleum-related sites.

The  WPCG is a joint venture between BP, Caltex and Viva Energy Australia (branded as Shell Retail Service Stations).

The WPCG training/accreditations are required by anyone who needs to conduct work on one of the oil companies facilities.

Whenever construction, maintenance, demolition or remediation work is performed there is the potential for harm to people and the environment or damage to equipment.  To effectively manage this risk and control of work process has been developed to enable tasks to be completed safely and without incidents.   The WPCG Program defines different levels of risk and the controls and authorisations required to ensure those risks are controlled before work can begin.
